I Thought My Life Was Hard
Until I discovered this extraordinary story

It started in 1953, when a 29 year old got divorced from his wife of eight years.
He lost almost everything during the separation including the house.
As if that was not enough, a year later, his 8-year old son Teddy was diagnosed with leukemia (blood cancer). Which at the time was incurable and there was no medical insurance.
He had to pay for all the expenses from his tiny savings. Only to helplessly watch his son become weaker each passing day.
According to a friend, he would visit the hospital when his son “was in bed and slowly dying, hold him for a while, then go out walking the streets of Pasadena crying.”
He had to take his sick son to hospital for check-ups while practising law and caring for his two other kids.
A year later Teddy passed away.
Divorced, broke and a painful loss of a young son.
Lesser men would have given up on life and resorted to alcohol or drugs.
But not him.
He kept going and turned his life around.
Again at the age of 52, a failed cataract surgery caused him to be blind in the left eye. With the possibility of going completely blind one day.
His response? “It’s time for me to learn braille!”
This btw (if you hadn’t realized until now) was the extraordinary story of Charlie Munger.
Who passed away in 2023, a few days shy of his 100th birthday.
Famous for his wit and wisdom. I hope this story inspires you (as much as it did for me) to take on life’s challenges and keep moving forward.
Thank you for reading and best of grace.
